What do you design for?
I design for fashion textiles, so if I were to sell my
designs I would sell them to fashion design studios who would then go on to
sell them to larger companies.
What are your biggest inspirations?
I am heavily inspired by different cultures, particularly
Mexico, I love their use of colour and objects. I think it is such an
interesting culture and way of living. I love the architecture in Spain and
India too, they are so decorative and intricate.
What are your favourite materials to work in?
I love using dyes and hand painting them onto fabric, I
think the ability to produce something solely by hand is really fascinating. I
then like to incorporate things like screen print, embroidery, foil and flock
to add texture to the fabric.

How would you describe your work in 3 words?
Bold, bright, busy.
What are your dreams for the future?
I would love to travel the world and become even more
inspired. I would then like to open my own design studio and have a small team
producing designs for fashion print. Depending on how successful my business is
I would then consider becoming a teacher after years of having my own business.
Where can we keep up to date with your work?
I am active on my Blog, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
account. I am also looking into starting my own Pinterest to document my
travels and work. I have included a lot of my work on my Instagram account
which shows my journey through my Final Major Project.
Thanks Joyce!
Joyce will be exhibiting her work at the Cleveland College of Art and Design Degree Show, opening June 4th 2015. You can check out Joyce's interview with me over at her blog, mentioned above.
